Make Your Linkedin Profile Irresistable to Recruiters and Networking Contacts!
Right under your name to the left of your picture is one of the most powerful places to put your brand statement.
You do have a picture, right? It’s one of the most important aspects of your profile.
But back to your brand statement. What makes the location under your name so important?
Well, it shows up right under your name and picture in so many places on linked. That small number of words may make the difference in whether a recruiter or potential networking contact clicks or skips your profile.
For example,
When a recruiter does a search by title and location, you come up in a big long list of other potential candidates. Your picture comes up, and often people click right by profiles without a picture by the way. Do an advanced search for people with your title within 50 or 100 miles of your zip code. You’ll be amazed! Plus you’ll see how profiles without pictures just kind of fade into the wall paper.
Your name and then whatever you have under your name come up right there in the list with everyone else. If you’ve got something like “Project Manager who specializes in project management” (from an actual profile), a recruiter might pass over it to see what else they can find.
What if it said:
“Project Manager who pilots complex IT projects in on time and on budget.” Yikes, that’s different and intriguing. Click on that one!
“Worldwide CIO seeking next opportunity” isn’t very exciting nor does it tell me much.
“Global CIO in transition—delivering results to the bottom line”.
A recruiter will be drawn to click on it.
Your branding statement shows up whenever you add a comment to a discussion, so people may see it days or even weeks later. It’s like having your brand be networking for you even when you aren’t there.
